Hi I'm Leanna.
I am a Miami transplant currently living in the beautiful Mountains of NWNC, Asheville to be specific, which is a bona fide candystore of humanity, art and nature. I couldn't possibly be expected to absolutely delight in just one of those things, right? So I don't. I do however look for the connections that exist between people when they don't notice you taking their photo or by some perfect planetary allignment they have forgotten that you are there for that specific purpose. I am a great fly on the wall, a people watcher and what I'm after are the subtle gestures and authenticity between all manners of relationships.
This term may be overused in marketing but I am also a storyteller, an explorer and often walk around early in the morning with my camera just to see what I can see. There is beauty and art in so many of the things that have become background noise, mundane. Bridges, buildings, infrastructure. People on the streets, in cafes, waiting for a bus.
So I do it all and resist getting into any box or category.
I shoot what I love, what catches my interest and I try to look a little deeper at the nuances of weather, age and contrast.
And if you are intrigued or confused just send me a message and tell me
What story do you want to tell?

I'm not clear on when I got my hands on my first camera but I do remember pouring over National Geographics and declaring that I wanted to be a NatGeo photographer "when I grew up". I guess I really started to document people in Junior High School, borrowing my friend's Canon AE1 SLR camera with a 35mm lens, the photos published in the yearbook. My photo style has changed very little since. I definitely lean towards a documentary style of capturing people.
